Small Business Loans

The Trail Town Program’s parent nonprofit, The Progress Fund, is a Community Development Financial Institution. We fund small businesses to help creates jobs and improve communities.

Most conventional lenders don’t give to small, rural businesses.  But The Progress Fund specializes in tourism and hospitality loans anywhere they will benefit the local community.

In our Trail Towns, we’ve funded:

  • Bike shops
  • B&Bs
  • Restaurants
  • Outfitters
  • Hostels
  • Campgrounds

In total, The Progress Fund has made $10 million in loans to 32 new or expanding businesses in the Trail Towns along the Great Allegheny Passage. And because we’re a reputable organization, our support has also helped leverage an additional $6 million in private investments.
