Ebensburg PotatoFest

This past week on September 27, 2014 the town of Ebensburg held it’s 23rd annual PotatoFest.  Thousands of people come from all around to celebrate Cambria County grown potatoes and their farmers.  Cambria County is Pennsylvania’s second largest producer of potatoes. PotatoFest included a large variety of potato products including: potato soup, potato candy, potato pizza, sweet potato fries, potato pierogies, sweet potato ice cream, and so much more.  PotatoFest truly celebrates the potato and it’s versatility.

If you enjoy fine crafts, PotatoFest had a large variety of crafts from various venders across the region. There were many varieties of wooden crafts, jewelry, homemade dog treats and collars, Cambria County maple syrup, ceramics, quilts, homemade jams and many other items.  You could walk around for hours exploring all that was for sale.

PotatoFest is only a one-day event but could last for days with the multitude of activities that were available. There were bands playing on four differentstages around the festival. For kids attending PotatoFest they had the opportunity to visit Adventures in Spudland. Spudland included a variety of entertainment including a Kids’ Potato Patch, Unicycle Sam, and Clowns.  The 23rd annual PotatoFest was a lot of fun for adults and children of all ages.

The next event that will take place in Ebensburg will be the 5th Annual Ebensburg Turkey Trot. This 5k run/walk will take place on Thanksgiving day November 27, 2014.
