Trans-Allegheny Trails Trail Town Kick-Offs

Trail Town Program® Expanding to Ebensburg, Saltsburg

Greensburg, PA – The Progress Fund’s Trail Town Program® is expanding to new Trail Towns across western Pennsylvania, including Ebensburg and Saltsburg.  Both of these communities have strong connections to their local trails, which are a part of the Trans- Allegheny Trails System that is now working to connect regional trails together.

Trail Town Program® incorporates economic development efforts around the growing numbers of trail visitors and tourism to the region and has been working in communities along the Great Allegheny Passage since 2007. In addition to the Trans-Allegheny Trail System, Trail Town Program® will be expanding to new trails and towns in 2014 including the Erie to Pittsburgh, Montour, and Sheepskin Trails.

A Kick-off Event will be held for Ebensburg on Tuesday April 15 at 6:30pm.  The event will be held at Ebensburg Municipal Building (300 West High Street, Ebensburg, PA 15931. A Kick-Off Event is also in the works for Saltsburg (connected to the West Penn & Westmoreland Heritage Trails).  The Saltsburg Kick-Off Event is scheduled for Tuesday April 29 at 6:00pm at Saltsburg Borough Building (320 Point Street, Saltsburg, PA 15681). Business owners, trail builders and users, municipal officials, and tourism groups are encouraged to attend.

A Trail Town Assessment will later follow to help identify priorities and needs for this new Trail Town.  Attendees will learn more on how their community can become a Trail Town and the services available through the Trail Town Program®.  These services include:

  5. Real Estate Development
  6. Small Business Loans
