Jam Band – Fletcher’s Grove, Fab Four Tribute – Beatlemania Now!
Performing Friday and Saturday Night Concerts at Canal Place
Come celebrate Heritage Days Weekend on Friday and Saturday nights with free concerts at Canal Place as part of Cumberland Comes Alive concert series presented by Burgmeier’s Hauling.
Morgantown-based jam band Fletcher’s Grove will take the BB&T Stage at Canal Place on Friday, June 10 at 8 pm. Then, on Saturday evening June 11, Beatlemania Now, will perform at Canal Place at 8 pm. Saturday night’s performance is sponsored by Shaffer Ford.
Known for their high-energy shows, Fletcher’s Grove mixes pulsating bass lines, dual-guitar solos, and an eclectic percussion section that makes standing still nearly impossible. By maintaining a solid focus on perfecting musical intricacy and creating seamless improvisation, Fletcher’s Grove has captured the imaginations of thousands in the Mountain State and beyond.
The five-man-band is made up of Ryan Krofcheck (Vocals/Ryth. Guitar), Matt Marion (Vocals/Percussion), Wes Hager (Lead Guitar/Flute), Taylor Pratt (Bass), and Tommy Bailey (Drums). Aside from the music they grew up on, their music education and degrees have carried them throughout improvisational jams and intricate song writing. Throwing in heavy jazz rudiments and a diverse array of instruments from the mandolin to the flute.
Fletcher’s Grove plays over 100 shows and festivals a year, sharing the stage and line-up with bands such as Furthur, Primus, Yonder Mountain String Band, Umphree’s McGee, Dark Star Orchestra, Gov’t Mule, Rusted Root and number of other talented artists.
On Saturday night, Beatlemania Now will take the BB&T Stage at Canal Place at 8 PM. They have performed their tribute to The Beatles before hundreds of thousands of people during their career both on Broadway, in Atlantic City, and around the World. With authentic instruments the group chronologically traces the Beatles’ career from their 1964 U.S. debut up until the swan song of “Let it Be.” Beatlemania Now has performed internationally at everything from intimate club performances to gigantic outdoor gatherings of more than 20,000 people and has become the premier multi-media Beatles show in the process.
Beatlemania Now recaptures the mood and frantic intensity of a time when The Beatles were the most exciting thing to happen to music since Elvis. By playing the songs in chronological order one really gets to appreciate the tremendous growth and output of material that The Beatles created in such a short period of time. This is a show that will be appreciated by both casual and die-hard fans of the four mop-topped lads from Liverpool.
Both performances are free of charge, but seating is limited, so don’t forget your folding lawn chair.
Cumberland Comes Alive is Western Maryland’s premier outdoor concert series. It is presented by Burgmeiers Hauling Inc. and is produced by the City of Cumberland’s Downtown Development Commission and Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority with a Maryland Heritage Area Grant.
